I have been looking in on this board for awhile and I very much love skiing.
I was just wondering what all of you would say is a good career to stay near a ski resort.
I have noticed some of you live in the town of alta. What do you do for a living to live in such an awesome place?
Somebody here lives in Alta?

I'm considering moving to Aspen to become a professional cougar hunter.
I work at a car dealership in Alta. I'm in the service department, I'm a mechanic. JONG
I guess some of us do other odd jobs, but I am pretty sure that I speak for all us here in saying "duh JONG, we ski."
Some are doctors, others are dishwashers, a few CEO's, some unemployed, entrepreneurs, pros and aliens too. There's even a few flakes, technicians and mechanics for good measure.
The fact is, all of that is irrelevant because if we couldn't ski or ride we wouldn't be living.

Don't pay the bills. Or get somebody else to pay them for you. (IE- Wife, Girlfreind, that Cougar you met at the bar last night.)
Anyways, 3 months of hazard pay and overtime as a wildland firefighter enables me to go to school and ski 4 days a week.
I get paid $2.47 for every post I make on message boards.
There are two ways of being rich : either make lots of money of you just don't spend any.
No bills, no worries. Bum, bum, bum ! But don't mooch and don't beg. Then you just footing the bill to someone else. The key is sustianable hoboism. Give as much as you take (in this lies the balance of the system - haven't figured it out yet).
I'm heading out in a few days for the rest of the winter do an indepth and on hands study on the subject. Got a few scraps together here and there but in no means can I afford to ski. I'll have to earn em or find an other way to make it happen.
There are no secrets, someone pays somewhere at sometime.
So the question you're asking is : How do you balance it ? - Trying to figure it out myself.

I have met some people who work 60+ hrs. a week in the summer and take winters off to ski everyday and others who just work in the ski area.
In my opinion its all good.

Jackace-If you'd like to move here to the town of Alta, I could really fix you up. I live in a three bedroom house that is ski in/ski out here in Alta. The auto service department I work at is only 2 minutes from my house, and some of the best skiing in the world is right out my back door. I had a roommate just move out, we're looking for another one....400 a month and that includes utilities.
I could probably get you a job at my work. Have you ever greased a chassi or lubed one up? If you have experience, I'll ask my other roomie who posts here as Phunk, if he may be interested in you.
Hell, if you can even spell "chassis", you can have blurred's job.

I was kind of hoping to move to utah and finish my schooling at the U of U but that cant happen for atleast 6 months (maybe next year). Plus the whole out of state thing sucks I have only 2 years left and residency requires 2 years.

i work 2 jobs and in my last semester of school.
it all works out somehow.....don't ask so many questions. shut your jong hole and go skiing. it'll be worth it.
