Who makes the best splitboard?
This should be in techtalk.
Stay the hell away from Burton, although they do make a pretty cool jacket with a built-in mp3 player. I think it has a USB port.
please define best. :biggrin:Quote:

Now that they use the Voile kit ;)
This thread reminds me that I need to swap my wife's Burton S to the Voile system that I got her for Christmas.
a good splitboard is a dead splitboard...
therefore the best splitboard should be the deadest splitboard...:fm:
Have 2 Volie's, a 171 Mountain Gun , and a 178 that I split myself about 5 or 6 years ago, very happy with both. I do have 2 Prior solid boards that I really like also, so I'm sure thier splitboards are just as nice.
skis
...
This comming from a guy who looks like he barely knows how to ski:fm:Quote:

Although I do own an older Prior 172st split... nice, but.... Kinda torn between a Prior Khyber and NS for a non swallowtail.. need something stiffer for less than ideal snow...
The girl is wanting a splitboard. Been looking around, holy jeebus they are expensive. Leaning towards splitting a board using the the Voile kit. She charges and feels her current 153cm is too short. Any recommendations on a board that would be more on the stiff side to be able to handle sketchier snow conditions? Length wise I was thinking 157ish.
Paging Wy Splitride....... ;)
Never Summer....beautiful.
I am a Prior Man, myself.
Currently riding a Khyber, a powstick 167, and a powstick 176.
I have a 165 khyber split on order.
Currently using K2 approach skis, both systems have their merits. I prefer the approaches for manky, hard snow conditions. The new powsticks are WAY stiff, and charge in the chunder.
I have a Voile MTN GUN and works just fine!
My only complaint is the weight. I rationalize the extra weight as being "training weight".
Recommend wide splitboards for me. I saw some of the longer Prior's were in the 26.5 range, but for me I feel like a longer board would be more of a hinderance. My most likely option is splitting a Neversummer but it's pricy!
$1100!
I too have wide feet(size 12) and was wondering the same about split board widths. I think that most of the time you would be(hopefully) in powder if you were on your split board, so toe drag wouldn't be too big of a concern. But if you were on a steep hard pitch It might get a little scary if your toes are dragging. So I was also thinking of maybe splitting a never summer legacy.
I actually ride a 10.5 boot but could never imagine going narrower than 26.5. I ride a Legacy and think it's about the best board ever so I think my best option would be splitting one of those but it's so expensive!
If you already have a solid legacy then there is certain shops that will split and epoxy it for you for about $100 labor. Or if your really a handyman and trust yourself with a skillsaw you could do it yourself for free, but then you need the voile kit $75? skins $100. so yourself $275 or have a shop do it for 375Quote:
