I was thinking to make figure skating more like the half pipe comp. You get a strip of ice, that you do the coolest stuff you can do. Of course you would change the uniforms to swim suits. I think this would appeal to a much larger guy group.

You must have no imagination whatsoever if current costumes aren't revealing enough for you already.
I think they should give them swords and put all of the competitors on the ice at the same time. The last duo standing wins the gold.

wow....i have some deep seated anger towards the figure fucks
You land a 940 on ice, on one foot and switch with thin pieces of metal attached to your feet while dressed in a 2 2 and tell me how cool you thought that was.
edit: Oh yeah, you get no kicker or cliff to do it off of, just solid blue ice.
Figure skating would be much stupider and would only air after Stripperella on Spike TV if any of your (collective) ideas were entertained.
Now that I vented a little I think that televised ice skating would be cooler if they would cut out the drama crap inserted between the skating and just focus on the skating.
edit: That goes for all the sports, not just ice skating.
Let them do inverts
... If they could use songs with words for their programs... and if there was no such thing as a long program.
.... if there were no men involved. .... The pairs would be 2 women skating, and they'd make out after every successfull manouver.

I wonder what the wipeouts would be like if they went naked.
Exactally the god damned drama makes me puke, the actual skating is pretty amazing when i'm afraid to do a 360 off a kicker into powder, ice hurtsQuote:

One set might be the Shinjuku district of tokyo, and the skater could be dressed up as a pissed off mollusk tearing through said city spewing his evil snail-snot. Bonus points if he killed some of the other skaters in the process.
Another problem I have is the consequence of falling. It just isn't big enough. The ice should be absolute zero (I realize the problem with this given the "energy crisis"). That way if a skater fell, their hands and other body parts would fall off. Getting up and finishing their program would be much more impressive than it is now.
How about random music selections? Anyone can skate to "Swan Lake" or "In the Mood", but how about "Toxicity" by System of a Down or "Protect ya neck" by the Wu Tang?
guns.
they need guns. and targets popping out of the ice !
more clubbed knees and porn follow-ups
I have come up with a "fix" for the here-to-fore woefully inadequate "sport formerly known as figure skating".
What is this sport to be called? Why, Thin Ice Figure skating, what else? It would be held outdoors of course, with the prelims being held on lakes with suitably thin ice. If the ice is thick it can be thinned by torches, etc. The finals really should be held on a moving body of water that is covered with thin ice so that anyone going in will immediately be sucked to their death under the ice, ...it is a gold medal after all. The other big draw would be the fact that a medal is not guaranteed, everyone may drown. Imagine the excitement, it would put a whole different degree of difficulty on lifts. Before any of you wacko "humanitarian" types start naysaying, let me just point out that any people killed would be figure skaters, these people have no skills whatsoever and are less likely than baby seals to survive when left on their own. Society would benefit from having less of them about...
BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHHA! Thanks phishyQuote:

I've never seen a figure skater ride it switch to the road. They should do that.
if it was full contact with 2 pairs skating at once trying to take each other out.
