CD DVD burner problems
My DVD burner has stopped burning DVD's - it gets to the stage of writing tracks and just stalls. The first 10 or so DVD's were fine now it's just up and quit working. It burns the lead in section of course making the disc useless for further use. Here is the strange thing - It burns CD's fine? It also continues to play DVD's without problem, single and double layer. (I am only trying to burn single layer). I have cleaned the drive a few times with a CD/DVD cleaner disk, but with no change?
Thanks in advance Tom
p.s. Using DVD shrink and Nero on a PC

could just be bad media. Try a different brand of blank DVD?
Or have you installed a video game lately? Some like to use copy-protection hidden cd drivers that can mess with cd/dvd burning. Some audio CD's will do this too (sony).

Defrag the drive you're burning from.

Yeah try different brands of media perhaps... unless you're using the exact same brand that you used before.
Short of that I have a portable DVD burner you can borrow until you can get a new one.

My DVD/CD combo does the same thing. It's not a DVD burner but CDs will only burn 1 or 2 minutes then stop. I used Nero and Real programs with same results. All attempts were CD to CD rather than from the harddrive. Ran a cleaner through. I just figured it was time for a new burner. Fortunately it still plays DVDs so I can watch movies.
