.. and the friggin' madness continues ..
Somehow, overnight the Crew got transplanted to Mammoth.
All of Alta was buffed so sweet and smaooooooooooth as a baby's white bottom with a fresh coating of baby oil on it.
Just a few things stick out in my head from today. Neither DTM nor I was planning on skiing past like 2 or so; next thing I know it is 4:00 and we are done - so much for the plan.
Phunk, DTM and I 2-turned No Name; the scaredest I have been in a while. We had to have been going like 70 mph. Then DTM says he wants to straightline it from the top. So, of course we go back and he does it. OMFG!!! Then Phunk with about 3 feet between his skis and poles out wide (prolly for max wind resistance to keep his speed down) straights it as well. It was SICK!! Looked like a dude trying to set the downhill speed record. He said it about blew his Giro Flint off his head and that the last part of it he was looking out the two holes in his jaw piece to see where he was going.
Then in the afternoon, after lunch, DTM says he is tired. I say, got a case of the lunch coma heh?? All the while, I am thinking, bwaaaahaaaaahaaaaaaa - your coma is about to end. We hit High Boy to Secret Chute to Wendy's Nose. For those that don't know, Wendy's Nose is at the bottom looker's right of High Boy. Super technical and fun area with only straightlines or mandatory airs back into High Boy. I find a cool straightline and nail it to the thrill of all on the first cat-track below. Then I look up and DTM is rolling into the most sketch line up there. I tried to yell at him to go left, but it was to late. He sidesteps down a little ways all the time sloughing off all snow and is basically sliding down rock. All I here from him is FUCK and I pretty much thought he was. I yell at him that he is gonna have to just point it from there cause he only has a few feet of snow left. He points and jibs off this spire to his right and uses it Jamie Pierre style to bank him back into High Boy via 15-20' of air off the spire, stomps it and rides away. SICK!!! Everyone on the cat-track erupts and all I can do is laugh my friggin' head off!!
Lunch-coma successfully come out of!!
Alta is such the shiz-nit right now it blows my mind. We are skiing lines that we have looked at for years wondering if they EVER will fill in. If anyone is within a night's drive; get here!!! No excuses accepted; just get here!!! When all the pros and trollers are super amped for the year, and haven't been in awhile, you know it is off the hook. :)
