Deepest day of the year...at...the Canyons??

Why? Why did the Canyons get 27" of snow in 24 hours and Alta only 16"? I don't understand it.

But I don't care. Because for 3 hours this morning at this silly, poorly-designed, SLOWLY patrolled resort on the Wasatch backside I lapped what's in contention for a top-3 deepest day in my life. This is including a 78" day at Wolf Creek.

It was only the third day in my life that I could have genuinely used a snorkel. Coughing, couldn't breathe, hold breath, turn, joy, pain, then out of the white unending wave onto the track back to the lift.

Fucking unbelievable.

I don't know what the hell Alta's reporting system is, but today was the deepest day ever. I was seriously choking (which is not normally an issue for me) on so many runs today I lost track. And the backside was so insanely deep and fluffy. Normally you can get a little piece of vision in when you surface- at least every other turn or so - not today. It's ridiculous up there. Unfortunately had to come back for work, but damn, what a morning.

It's all about the wind...

Snow measurements are usually taken in wind protected areas, to get an accurate total of what's fallen.

With 60 MPH winds for the last 2 days, so much snow is being transported by wind, that I'm sure the backside, and all those other places (even the Canyons) filled in amazingly, to several feet, even though only around a foot came from the heavens...

Yo RB, Nice FOX news report last night. Erica and I are sitting there and you are on the TV. We just keep watching, while Im wondering when she is going to realize it is you. All of a sudden, "Holy shit, that is Steve who we met at Jason's party". I smiled and said yep, that is our Weather Maggot.

Nice whole hour and glad to see you mentioned our little Cache Valley, where it drifted so bad I got stuck this morning in my own driveway, going downhill even. :eek: :eek: Got a good 8 inches on the deck from the time I shoveled at around 6pm to 8am this morning.

Didn't read the thread(big hurry), but fack, it was deep today at le canyons. Waist deep was the norm with chest deep in many places. Bottom? What's that? Deepest day in my book.

Admit it Particle, you're getting hooked. Despite the obvious flaws (slow patrol, layout from a crack house, gondola bull shiite), there are always fresh lines. And yes, today was top 3. Waist was the norm, chest deep common.

Next time you come, give a shout. I need to show you the powSTASHes. Skied a couple of them at 3:30 today, untracked.

Hope to be home by this time tomorrow. Driving through some snow the whole way back so I don't know how long, but hopefully just in time for the next storm. Gotta get some turns with you Powstash.....I've yet to get up there with you this season! I really didn't get anything done out here in the PNW like I was hoping for, so it's back to Utah early. I really wish I would have come back the day after Christmas. Oh well, I'll be back there soon enough.
