Post your brief trip reports / updates about how the snow conditions are where you are in the Alps (so I know where to find the best stuff :cool: )
Unfortunately the first trip report isn't too positive:
1/22 - Les Grands Montets (Chamonix) --- All moguls in bounds. Lots of rocks hidden on the bottom of the moguls. Midi closed due to high winds. Suspect snow on offer after touring mostly thick and crusty due to the recent thaw and refreeze but not sure... Anybody toured lately to find out?
1/23 - Les Grands Montets --- Had to bail on Plan A (col du passon) for a few reasons, instead ski toured up to top of Les Grands Montets from Longon up the Point a Vue piste for exercise and to enjoy the sunny day
Nasty windbuffed satstrugi with patches that were so hard you could ski similar to a hardpacked piste. Very high wind has closed the top lifts now two days running.
Please somebody else post a postive report - at this point I'm thinking of giving up skiing and going ice climbing until the next snowfall...
snow for the euros maybe? usually people post updates there.
fair amount of snow over the weekend in&around innsbruck. can't complain at all...
