Pain while skiing (another boot question.)

I've just got moldable liners which has taken away all the pressure points (yay!) but I still get a lot of pain from ski boots.
I think that pressure on the calf muscle is cutting off blood to my feet. The pain is relieved by undoing the top clips for a while but as soon as I do them up to ski, it's back. Skinning or cruising groomers is fine, but any interesting skiing hurts like hell. :nonono2:
I'm on denalis + freerides but the same issue happens in my Rossi race boots.
Any suggestions?
Would trying to change the ramp angle on the free rides (as discussed elsewhere) help?

can you run the tops a little looser? Especially any booster/power strap you may have. Any overtightening the top buckle and/or strap gives me a lot of pain as well, only real solution I've found.

Only if they're loose to the point where it I feel less control, no problem on easy terrain but not so good in the windfukt crust and crud out there at the moment. I'm playing with that though, I guess I was hoping for the magic solution :rolleyes: .

I'm out of ideas for you then I have to run a really tight line between loose control and tight pain.

Q: are your liners wrap or tounge style?

New ones are wrap, moldable.
They seem to fit well, no pressure points, warm feet (first time ever.)

But I'm getting the same prob in my race boots (tounge style liner, very uncomfortable.)

So I don't know.
I had the problem a bit last year but not as painful.
It only seems to happen when I'm skiing hard but not when I'm skinning.

I have a pair of 4 clip plus power starp nordica boots.

I always have to loosen the top clip and power strap after my 3rd or 4th run as my calf muscles wake up and get slightly bigger. Causes a bit of pain if i leave them clamped.

I usually run the two middle clips ( the ones on top of the arch of the foot and the one holding the heel down and back) pretty tight to restrict lift but i run the remaining two a lot looser to prevent cramping that i seem to get if i tighten them too much.

Having the same problem lately w/ mine. Nordica 10 4 clip boots w/ Alpine molded wrap liners. Most of the pain is on the outside of my shins and very tops of my ankle. My feet fell great in them, but I'm still tweaking the adjustments until they're dialed.

I've found that the moldable wrap liners are way more comfortable in regular conditions, but a lot less forgiving than regular stockers on ice/hardpack, or when you twist your foot or land wrong. :confused:

there is a nerve that runs down the back of the leg and wraps around the interior ankle. I some boots and some people this nerve can become depressed and cause tingling and fatigue in the foot .it is rare but if the boots are too tight in the ankle, especially around the achilles then you would have problems you suggest which are aleviated by undoing the top buckles

Is the boots cuff pretty tall or short. If its one or the other, when you get new boots try to find the other.
