So for going skiing via sled do you just get towed in or should I ride a sled, if I ride a sled do I just ride to the base of what I want to ski then start hiking? is there some way to shuttle or anything? Someone give me a crash course!

depends on many things.
If im running forest service roads, I've been 2-up on the machine and had up to 4 being pulled behind (on an ac 600)
If it gets steeper and deeper, then you need to lighten up, sometimes anymore than the rider can bog you down.
I usually ride to the bottom of what i plan to ski, then hike from there.
As far as shuttle goes, the most creative technique i ever saw was up at Frasier lake in the north bridgers where i topped a ridge and saw a guy unloading skis off his sled. he then ran down hill a bit, turned, came back uphill fast as possible. when he topped the ridge he jumped offf his sled and ghosted it down the hill. then he skied down behind it, hopped on and repeated.
put your skis on then get on your sled. step 2 turn yuor sled down and go!!!!!!!!!!
Take it to the base of whatever it is you are going to ski and turn the bitch off and hike. Don't try take the sled in just that extra 1/2 mile if the going is tough. You end up burying the pig and spend more time digging it out when you could have just hiked it faster.
This is my first year of sled assist. I have a two-up widetrack (500cc liquid cooled). I seat two on it and tow the rest, my dog sits on the passengers lap.:) If it gets tough, I kick the passenger and the dog off and just tow everybody. On packed roads I can tow two easily and two on the sled in low gears.
Biggest thing is to know when to just get off and hike. Nothing worse than spending your day digging the pig out because you thought you could get in that last little bit.
