Avalanche clip link (and ortovox X1 inquiry)

Also,

Anyone have any experience with the ortovox X1? Wanna compare & contrast w/ the M2 and tracker?
I'm a fairly jongish BC skiier with a minimal amount of avvy experience and need to get a beacon. Am either gonna get the M2 or the X1.

trackers look nice, but I can get the X1 or M2 for under $200. Wondering which is better, and how they stack up against the tracker. It seems like there might not be too much difference between the X1 and the tracker, but the X1 has longer range.

Tracker is the easiest to use. Since you are new to the BC, and if I was buried under 3 feet of snow, I would want you to have the Tracker in your hands. It's not about saving money, it's about saving lives!

good point

right on. Seems like no one's suggesting the X1 over the tracker, so I guess I'll take the hint and drop the extra dough.

I like my X1 a lot.

I like the longer reception range then the Tracker.

I like how it locks on to one signal during multi burial situations.

I also like the way that you pinpoint with it.

I like the combo of digatal and anolog, then just strait digital. But, that's me....

No matter what transceiver you buy, PRACTICE with it. Learn your beacon INSIDE and OUT!! I would rather have someone who is well very very practiced with an old style transceiver looking for me, then someone with no practice and the most "advanced" transceiver in their hands.

Even though this was an old thread I'll add my two cents. I have never used the tracker but I recently got an x1 and having no real experience using a beacon before I was able to easily locate search beacons in a practice area. Havne't tried on multiple burials but on singles it's pretty darn easy. If the tracker is easier than the x1 that's cool but the x1 seems pretty damn easy to use.
