I got a Garmin V for Xmas and it came with road map software. I looking for topo map stuff. Cheap is good but good maps are more of a priority than price.

I'm pleased with the Garmin MapSource Topo software. It syncs nicely with my handheld Garmin GPS.Quote:

I have Garmin's TopoCanada software and the maps are fine. It's your only choice for downloading maps to Garmin products. You can't overlay maps (e.g. put the road map on top of the top map) and can't search for geographic features.
