Yesterday afternoon I went to the A Basin parking lot with my pathetic skinny skis and hung out with Phish and his college buddies. Sad in my pants that I had no real skis, still.
Who shows up but Eric coming out of the Beavers, with about 1000 lbs of gear on his back, spats plus that giant video camera. We chat and I piss and moan about my gear and how cool it would be to ski the rockpile and he says that I should ski his 180 Explosivs since he's got demo bindings on them. Fvckin A!!!
They are a retro looking version - I don't even know what year. Teal and pink and dayglo yellow from some heli op. So pretty and it was love at first sight. Before we even slid down to load Pali, he offered them to me at his cost and with terms. The clouds parted in the sky and a beam of sunshine lit right on his nose. :D
Long story short, I immediately skied bottomless fluff and bonded with my new sweeties. Then we slept together. Me and the skis, I mean. ;)
Yesterday
- private morning lesson with $20 tip
- got the part time night job I wanted at one of the best restaurants in the state
- amazing new skis
- blower run with an incredible crew
I haven't had decent skis in a long, long time. It felt so good to drive a Ferrari yesterday. So freaking good.
