Backflip tips/help
So I've been snowboarding about 6 years and have 7's and 5's dialed in pretty good. I'm trying to muster up the balls to try a backflip. I can do backflips on the ground, trampoline, off diving boards easy. Where do you all suggest I try my first one? Im thinking of building a kicker at the base of a hill w/ alot of lip and piling up a bunch of snow to act as a crash pad so I don't kill myself. One thing im not sure of is exactley how I move my shoulders during the flip. I dunno If my shoulders should be square w/ the jump or what not....Any and all tips will be helpful.:FIREdevil

just like off the diving board dude. kicker with lots of lip helps.
edit: and lay that gainer out. no tuck and roll bullshit.

backflips are easier than 3's
just make sure the first time you huck a back that you huck it twice as hard as you would on a trampoline. for some reason i don tknow if its the weight your rotation ends up being slower

Are you trying to do a backflip, a 90 roll or what? if you are just doing a backflip tantrum style. Then just go for it off a medium sized chees wedge. Not much lip as it'll throw your rotation into 2 dimensions and you'll end up doing like misty.
Good luck and make sure you commit

you will be fine man. find a decent deep landing and just go for it. I can't even do 3's and for some reason this weekend i decided i want to learn front flips. I started off catwalks into powder landings, pretty much a sumersault more than anything, but i'm stepping it up and getting a bit biggger/closer to getting it around. Anyways, my point is, they are a lot easier than 3's. If I were you I would think about doing front flips before backs because you can just backslap if you don't get it all the way around. Super fucking fun too.

You can do 3's with 6 inchs of air, so those are way easier than a backflip. But I suggest learning backflips on a nicely shaped kicker that starts the rotation for you and doesn't throw you higher than about 7-8 feet. Don't even think about your shoulders, just look back with your head and bend back at the waist in a smooth motion as you reach the top of the jump. If you throw your body back too hard you will spin way faster than you would think so don't do that.
I think 7's are way harder to do than a backflip, balance, and consequence wise. You'de have to be really stupid to land on your head unless your ski comes off or the jump collapses while trying a backflip. So if you can do 7's, your spatial awareness and balls should be more more than sufficient.
