you driving? how long to get there?
There's been no snow reported in the past 48 hours with none forcast till at least monday.
Being that it's fernie it should still be good. If I can get sunday off I'll try to make it there
It got windfucked yesterday so it's not as great as it as been. And we haven't had snow for a while so its actually fairly tracked out from everyone hiking and staff day today. You might want to wait for more snow.
Skiing Fernie tomorrow. Should be good in Wind Shelter areas. Its going to be a crazy gong show tomorrow with everyone ripping it up. Hopefully there isn't to much carage. Skied today for staff day. One can find freshies if one know where to go. Its just going be nice to have lift access skiing again:biggrin:
hey how was the opening? lets hear it.
Thinkin about headen down there sometime this week..im assuming b/c got windfucked eh?
Opening day was okay. It was nice to lap a ski lift and my legs could feel it . Most of the snow is wind effected including the BC. There was 2700 skiers up on the mountain and no lift lines. Everyone was pretty spread out on the hill. The blue bird weather was also a plus. But on the negative side they are calling for high and dry for the next week and maybe even into Christmas. :nonono2:
bumpiddy bump,
Any reports from the front lines (snow level...)? thanks for any recon
I had the day off today but if that 5mm freezing rain crust is the same up there as it was in the valley- and I suspect it was it must have been fucking heinous skiing. Nice Christmas present! Can't wait for it to now freeze solid when the freezing level drops tomorrow night. This is shaping up to be a very sketchy snowpack.
:cussing:
The skiing was actually OK today. The rain softened things up and hasn't froze. Yet. It supposed to be above freezing again tomorrow so the skiing might be decent. Temos should start dropping in the afternoon so bring your skates on Friday!
As of 0700 hrs mountain standard time it is plus 4 degree celsuis here in Fernie and raining. If anyonre recieves this transmision, avoid western NA (Pac NW and BC) at all costs. An alien pineapple disturbance has parked its self over head in our atomsphere. Save you selfs, go somewhere where it snows, before you get trapped in this icy/rainy hell.
We need to sacrifice a scapegoat here pretty quick or burn some skis to turn things around.

Maybe everyone knows about Craig's Unofficial Fernie Alpine Resort Page (http://far.redtree.com/) already, but here it is again.Quote:

flathead valley covered in ice this morning, temps to be in the high 30's into the 40's today and tomorrow... probably similar to fernie area. redonculous.
