Chamonix Conditions
Whilst the Grand Montets and Le Tour now have enough ssnow to make them skiable, the high mountain still suffers from the very hot summer...whilst out Kite skiing with Phil (see updated thread), we saw the Poubleel is looking a bit bare....nothing like most people know it in Blizard of ahhs

That is amazing the difference. We nearly skied it last year the weekend when Splat was in town before heading over to the Rond. There was a bit of rock in the choke point, but nothing like that.
Praying for snow!
Idris, is your email still the same as last year? t... at yahoo dot com ?

the storm has arrived. :D
well not in cham but in Germany. up to 100mph gusts
but nevertheless this system will possibly deliver 50cm+ in the next 3 days in the western alps.
I am not quite sure about the forecasted super dump on the 24th because on that day the models seem to freak out and say 40mm(50cm+) precip in 12h is possible. but i guess their supercomputer is just crashing. and it will most likely snow about 20cm in 12h. *antijinx*

The storm has arrived, Temps have dropped 7C in the valley today...rain now snow all day....30com of fresh this morning...probably double that now!

Keep us posted. Still planning on a March 17-28 trip, if snow conditions are getting better. Haven't booked air yet, just waiting until mid Jan to see if I'll pay or use sky miles...and to see if there will be ample snow. Praying hard.
