Playa Hermosa, CR?
Anyone been to Playa Hermosa in Cosat Rica? I have a buddy who might go down there in March. Dunno what the waves will be like then. They say they get west and south swell, which would be nice, but sort of hard to believe. Maybe they are on the tip of a pennisula or something...
Any help?

I've spent plenty of time there. Hermosa catches a lot of swell. When it goes, it's a punishing beachbreak. I'd say it's the second heaviest place in CR after Salsa Brava. Lot's of broken boards when it's working. Also, check out Tulin a little drive down the road. When Hermosa is small, Tulin can be firing. March is a great time to go. You'll get a lot of good swell. I'll be down again for a week in early Dec hitting up Playa Grande and the Tamarindo area. Enjoy.

There are always waves at Hermosa. Even with no swell its like shoulder high. Pretty brutal beach break. A kid from my college died there surfing. Just south of Jaco which is a terrible wave, ok party town, and relatively dirty ugly beach. The whole strip (hermosa, Tulin, etc) along there has rideable surf nearly all year.
