s916 brake question

I have just managed to get hold of a brand new pair of 03/04 s916's.

I have tried to search for 916 in the search box but it doesn't seem to like numbers.

I want to know if i can take a pair of s810/s912/s914 wide brakes and put the wider legs into the s916 brake as the s916 brake seems to have a different housing to the 912/4's. Is this possible ?

Brake arms (and even brake bodies with a lil shaving) are compatible between the old squaretops and the newer brakes. So yes.

you can either pop those arms out & switch 'em around or break the new rounded brake around the back where there is confliction. so easy...get after it.

If you were just to say this to someone with no reference towards bindings, you would surely confuse the fuck out of them.

Excellent. I had a play around and i now get it .

here are some photos to help the next person.

from the above position, pull the arm up while holding the opposite one, it should come out from between the housing and the metal base plate ......

... then pull the arm towards the other one while wiggling it up and down .....

... and it should now pop out nice and easily .....

...reverse the process to refit / swap for wider one....

or once you have the arms out you can bent the lower/longer section straight in a vise with a bending bar (bike handle bar) and then move the bend point out 1cm and rebend. magic, fatter brakes

thanks for the advice MNTLION.

I've looked into that and i still prefer getting the originals from Salomon as none of my skis has a waist over 105 mm so the standard brakes work fine.

4 years later and search function works. Saved me $55 by using the remove/clamp/rebend method described by mntlion.
