I've seen people mention bootfitters in the SLC area before and i remember the name Earl (I think?) coming up alot and in good praise. Where does he work? I've got new boots on the way and i'm gonna need some help!

Christies at the bird will know his name,... Can't remember it off hand, I had him in my phone a few weekends ago but it was the number only....
I think Earl is at the Ski (Sport?) Loft on Highland.
steve bagley at the bird is pretty damn good, his shop Superior Ski does some decent work. if you're trying to find someone else in the area, he'll know who to talk toQuote:

Earl Middlemiss (sp?) and his son, Whatshisname, at The Sport Loft.
Our own Ski Monkey does some grinding for SureFoot at their PC store.
Earl and Jeremy do good work, but they ain't cheap.
Earl worked on my Tecnicas a few years ago and he's great.
don't know how expensive this guy is, but he used to work out of the
Raquet club there right behind the Seven Eleven at the mouth of BCC. he looked at me years ago, took some measurements, told me what was wrong with my boots, and actually told me how i skied. it blew my mind. i think he takes some extra work, time, and money, but if you want it done right, see him. otherwise i heard the earl guy is ok too. my freeskiing boots fit well enough just going to surefoot and making sure they know exactly what i want. i wouldn't go to them for any magic fixes though....
P.S. Lynx- we'll have to go ski a few runs or days together this year. i'm not coaching the little racers over at brighton this year, so i'm pretty excited to actually ski. i just scored a silver pass at alta, and bought a book at solitude. keep in touch. have your talked to schulman lately?

I don't do much fitting anymore since I do most of the heavy technical work and modifications for the shop but I can get you in touch with fitters if complex things are needed.
While some people say that Surefoot doesn't know what's going on, we've fit things from the most basic foot to most fucked up feet you've ever seen or imagined. Feet missing toes, extra toes, 3 sizes difference between feet, reconstructed feet after getting caught in any number of grinding and cutting machines. There's a reason that they have a 100% refund policy, it's because we do fantastic work we stand behind, period. There isn't a single boot that I touch that doesn't get the same level of attention my own get. While there are exceptions to the rule and some people have had negative experiences the sales and return numbers prove that most customers are stoked on the work we do.
The reality is, there are plenty of other great fitters, and you should work with the one you click with and trust.

sorry if it sounded like surefoot dosen't do good work. i have a pair in my boots, and love them. i know some boot fitters are better than others at surefoot, obviously, but they do good work. just with the knowledge i saw come out of the guy at the canyon raquet club i can say that he was above and beyond the surefoot people i have talked with. he just has a little more anotomical knowledge in his head (he does rehab as well). i would reccomend both....
I went the surefoot route in my last boots, mostly good, but did have some issues. maybe just not right for me. And I think i'd like to find a boot fitter closer to me in SLC.
SLCM...Who is this guy from the raquet club? and Yes, i've talked to Shulman, he keeps yellin at me to send him that ski (the one that Michelle lost on the backside of Brighton, not sure if you heard that story, but it was pretty rediculous and I found it up there in the spring)
