asymmetry in 06 stormrider DP

I've finally understood the "asymmetry" in 06 DP! It's in french (from skipass), lemme know whether it's not clear enough.

Après sur le modèle 05/06 la plaque titanal a été troué-rebouché avec des inserts polyamide, afin d'assouplir de manière assymetrique les talons, et ainsi pouvoir choisir d'avoir une prédominance "plus rigide" ou "moins rigide" en fonction du sens de placement droite/gauche des skis...

in few words, they made asymmetric polyamide inserts on the tail, so it's stiff or (relatively less) stiff (it's always a DP, after all :D ) depending on what ski you're using on the left or on the right

Is that like the different stiffnesses on the 2 tails in the Swallowtail on the Salomon Lab?

who knows? they're very, very sexy to flex... but there's no snow to demo them :cussing:

I waiting to try them also. You've got the right idea.

I was told soft side in for the deep and fresh, soft side out for more powerful crud blasting later in the day.

Gimmick or versatility?

i wasn't aware of this, and i own this ski.

furthermore, i don't really understand. the swallow only extends a cm or two up into the actual ski...so.... changing the flex in the swallows shouldn't really affect the ski, as it would have minimal effect on the effective edge....right?

somebody explain this, please? i'm so confused....

i'll be in the basement obsessively flexing my skis and scratching my head

I was fondling them in France a few years ago, and when flexing them around he told me the outer edge swallowtail was softer than the other making them better in the powder. Don't remember if I actually tested it...

Interesting. Verbier, how did you find the flex by hand flexing? Super stiff? Medium stiff? Thanks...
