Asterisk knee protection
so i keep seeing these ads in powder for these asterisk knee braces, and being the little girly man i am, i am interested in all the protection i can get for the tiny cliffs i like to do. i checked out their website, which gave me the impression they were a quality manufacturer, and it looked pretty slick. Anybody ever use/own any of thier products? They run skiing ads, so i'm guessing there's no problem with it bumping up against your boots? Are they restricting in any way? Also, i couldn't find any msrp, which would be nice to know.

Edit, also, forgot to ask, their website says thier braces are preventative protection, but i was wondering, who sees this as a good idea, or maybe a good idea only if you've allready trashed your knees, or just paranoid pussyrama?

We've discussed them a couple of times in Gimp Central, I think.
Go-Ride.com sells them for 549 a pair. They do seem well made and adjust nicely for an off the shelf brace. I've tried them on and I'd consider them, but I already have custom knee braces so I don't need any.
People are divided on whether they make sense as a protective measure. Most people seem to think it's overkill. The asterisk braces started as a product for motocross, where people tend to accept knee braces as a good idea even if you've never hurt your knees. Do a search and you'll find a whole bunch of debates on using knee braces for skiing.
