Salomon Propulse technical question

So I have a set of these bindings (see "But it was a bargain!" thread in Skiing). As far as I can tell, Propulse is just a really heavy and irritating way to push down the ski brake. But then I notice something:

On the front of the toe riser, facing forward, there is an adjustment screw. When I screw it in and out, a pointer on the side of the toe riser moves between two index marks. I can see nothing else moving and detect no other effect.

What the hell is that adjustment screw doing?

And has anyone figured out a way to ditch the Propulse arms and still have working ski brakes? The arms won't adjust short enough for the intended set of boots.

you have to ditch the whole plate that the heel is on, brakes, propluse stuff etc.

just use the heel on a new track.


not sure about the adjustment thing, might have been to adjust the strenght of the propulse? or just for show too.

Pawn those off on some poor sucker on ebay. Those things SUCK. I think at Salomon the propulse bindings are referred to as, "those of which we do not speak of".

I took a look under the Propulse toe, and I still can't figure out what the hell that adjustment screw does. It doesn't touch the Propulse stuff, that's for sure. Maybe it affects the Spheric mechanism? Paging Mechmaster...

Great idea, Salomon. A "feature" that restricts the range of boot sizes your bindings fit, adds weight, and does absolutely nothing. :nonono2:

It's been a long downhill slide for Salomon since the 997.

Salomon makes great bindings. The propulse was the exception. Take those pieces of shit and throw them in the garbage.
