But almost all the skis in my quiver belong to that other 1% (tooot toot, that is the sound of MY OWN HORN). BTW am I missing something or does capital not make a 3T type of shape. I know they make a spat type shape, but nothing that is 140-130-120. And the only 196 they make is a "measley" 107 under foot :cussing:

If you look at Design 101 and 201, all it does is talk about the different features of a ski in general and some notes on what they build. That is a lot different than CUSTOM SKIS :cussing: You do get to pick out tail shape, flex etc, but it does not say they will build whatever. Read this part again and tell me if I am missing something.... "Here you will find the theories behind the designs and the options available for Capital Skis, and you will be able to construct a ski suited just for you." This is like Iggies, pick a shape, length and flex of what we already make, not just whatever you want.

Still outside Particles budget now that he bought his pass :D But $900 (Canadian) is not a bad price at all for a real set of skis. Definitely better IMO than buying some "cookie cutter" skis of the wall at your local shop for retail....
they'd be more than that... i mean a thrasher w/ square tail is $925 CDN. a totally custom, random shape will be may more. just making a cassette to press it in is close to that price.Quote:

I don't think they have made anything longer than a 180 cm so that press they have is probably too small for a 200+ cm monster. That aside, they do seem to be getting the hang of it. These are not ugly:Quote:

Last summer I salvaged an old Zodiac raft from the local scrapheap and I've wanted to build a ski press ever since (a pontoon from that could be used to build a press, no?). But I don't think I have the time, patience or shop skills required to make anything half-decent. :redface: Would still be fun to try, though.
