A great accomplishment. Congratulations!
It's so nice to be able to kick yourself in the ass sometimes. Congrats!
nice work, dude!
so how did this happen in the first place? i presume i missed a big post somewhere....
that's a good way to put it! much funnier than "my heel can touch my ass again" :)Quote:

When I did finally get insurance I kept putting it off because I didn’t want to slow my life down. Now that it’s done, I can’t believe I waited so long. It feels great and should let me “pump up the volume” a little with my riding and not be so conservative. :)
ya bc
keep healin' strong buddy :)
I saw someone with an ass like that once too...
Nice, that's awesome. I remember that day well. Do you have full extension? That one seems to be trickier and sort comes and goes for a while.
good news brah
congrats. the flexion was the last for me, i had full extension by day 8 and never lost it.
good work, you'll be on that split in no time.

At first I thought you might be saying you converted to tele!!!!
Hopefully we can hook up for some turns this winter.
Yeah, extension's a b**ch. Getting my heel off the ground when I was sitting on the floor took another couple weeks... But the flexion's the one that makes the important stuff possible... you know, like sitting down on the crapper.Quote:

That is nice. I remember my ass kicking day well. Sounds like things are going as planned. Keep cycling and doing the box step downs to strengthen that thing and never forget the ice. You should be good to go for the new year. Which ACL method did you go with patella tendon, cadaver, or hamstring?
Congrats! So are you cleared to board now, or do you have to wait a little longer?
Thanks again guys.
Yep, full extension (and beyond) was good from early on, the flexion took me longer.
Thanks a lot TH! Now I gotta go clean my keyboard. :pQuote:

MF,
Still a couple months to go before I’m cleared for riding. It’ll pass in no time.
Yay BCR! Good job to you!!
That is sweet. Let me share in your stoke. Some might call me crazy but 1 month after reconstructive ankle surgery I made my first tele turns of the season at Loveland on Tuesday. I am a strong believer in pushing an injured joint. In my experience joints seem to heal faster and stronger when you continue to use them and push them.
Personal example some might find entertaining and maybe a little useful.
Few years back colorado got hit with an epic spring storm. It snowed like 8-10 feet in places. On my first day of riding I wrapped my left knee around a tree at A-Basin. This resulted in a dislocated knee cap and what I would call a second degree MCL tear. I reduced the patella myself (what a great feeling it was getting that damn thing back in track) and continued to ride the rest of the day. I would not have been able to tele but snowboarding is pretty injury forgiving. Not wanting to miss out on the great conditions I slept at A-basin in my jeep. The following day the knee was pretty sore and swollen but I just strapped on a pair and rode the whole. By the third day the knee was really starting to feel better and I swear I did not even really notice it while riding. Those three days were some of the best conditions I have experienced in my life. So glad I pushed myself. When I got home I don't even think that my wife could tell that I had injured myself. By the following week I would have to say the knee was close to 100%. I am not saying this corse of action is right for everyone. You have to have a pretty good understanding of anatomy and what your own body can handle.
Congrats! It's one of life's finer moments, as too many of us know...
Sick and ashamed and happy (and was confused when I misread the title as "My head can touch..."),
d.
I’d have to agree for the most part lil’ jerry. The less I use the joint the worse it feels. It’s all about listening to your body too (and PT doc). :)
Niiiiiiiiccce. Keep up the recov....and keep cursing at your pt.
Hope to see you in the bc soon.
peace,
D.
