The Not Funny Drunk Driving Thread

Don't wanna go all preachy on yer asses so just this: family friends were just in an accident, two girls driving 35 mph hit by a drunk driver passing at the crest of a hill going 75-100 mph per police estimations. The 15 year old has a crushed heel that may never come back together; the 20 year old has two broken femurs, two broken tibias and a broken kneecap; both have multiple other injuries.

I see a lot of jokey references to drinking and driving around here, and to past DUIs...so you know where I'm going with this. Please, think about it.

Glad your friends are alright, it sounds like it could have been much, much worse.

In a similar nonpreachy frame, drugs are not an excuse for acting like an asshole. It's the behavior and not the drugs that are to blame.

Be a good friend and find them a good lawyer.

In other news:

It sucks when people do stupid things and that impacts others.

I'm not saying drinking & driving is a good thing,& this person deserves time,But driving insanely,& wantonly dangerously like that can be accomplished under a wide variety of circumstances,& all are bad.

Dui's suck to all who are involved, both those who get busted and any victims suffering...unfortunately, I have been on both sides and would not wish either on anyone.

In all the human walks of life--driving, social, relationships, health, sports, recreation, spiritual, legal, internet, work...to me it is simple:

Just don't do stupid shit

Still, it seems to be a hard concept to follow for many (sometimes including my dumb-ass self)...
