too much ski?

I can get deal on some fischer atua's, which looks like an awsome ski, but I worried it might be a little too much ski for me. I am 5'10 125 and ski hard and fast. Currently ski on 175 Pocket Rockets but want something longer and more stable. In the fischer too much in 186? Have any of you skied them? Other ski suggestions? thanks.

WHen I was 14 I was about 5'11 and 130. I skied 195 k2 lawnchairs w/greensprings, they kicked my ass in small stuff, but ruled big fast stuff.

That was my only pair of fats, so I was stuck, you've got PR's for small days. Go for the 186's for big days, if you need, mount them forward a bit.

Now I feel old... When I was 14, I had a pair of 195cm K2 Extremes (1st gen black ones with multi-colored bases ) and a pair of 207cm K2 TNC's (black ones with neon sidewalls). You wanna talk about a ski kicking a 14 year olds ass... those TNC's cruised like dreams untill I tried to force them in tight stuff.....

I am just as tiny as you and I have no problem skiing 186's. You can still be tiny and rip, you just have to be able to control them. Buff up those quads, and if your really worried about it, buy a longer, and softer ski, like bigger pocket rockets, big troubles maybe, there are tons of skis that are soft, yet big. You wont regret going longer.

Black extremes/195 at the same age too! Also had a pair of kvc 195's and 195 tnc's.

Guess that's why I come from the school of laughing at people skiing 170's and shit too.

heh I had 195s that got bent so I had them send me back some 200s. Cut my eye good on those pointy tips too once :(

Exactly... I remember the day I got my 180cm Dynastar Concepts (1st gen red ones) - they were pretty much the first ski I had that was a) had a noticable sidecut (other than the 200cm Dynastar Speed SF GS skis I used for a while), and b) under the 195-210 range that I was skiing on before. I felt like a total tard the first time I used them, like I was on snowblades. They were all squiggly and turny. On the bright side, they introduced me to the bright new world of skiing in the backseat on near-center mounted skis. :D

edit: Last night I put my 210 TNC's on the floor of the garage and stood in the bindings with my flipflops on. I haven't skied on them in a good 4 or 5 seasons, but it made me excited to tune them up and bust them out this season for some smooth old school cruiser runs... and maybe even some looooong radius mogul turns.... :cool:

Bought 'em all used at the swap cheap! I skied those TNCs until the topsheets came off and skied 'em with no topsheets and screws holding the tips and tails together for like 1/2 a season.

I think this photo is from around the time they were shooting SnoWhat. If I remember, he wore that outfit through most of the film. I have it on tape somewhere. I kinda wanna bust it out and then go tune up my TNC's. I'm afraid it's going to take a while to get through the rust on the edges....
