Watching porn with the volume cranked at the gym is a great way to pass the elliptical time.
Tomorrow, I'm trying SKI porn.

Cool! I wanna get one of the those new iPods, but annoyingly they only have USB 2, and I don't have that :(

That is sweet, I would love watching videos while doing the leg press :D and USB 2.0 cards = cheap cheap cheap!
Unfortunately I'm retarded and own an eMac :DQuote:

Question, how do you dl the DVD to mp4 format? Cause if you can do that, that's gonna push me over the edge to purchase one of those bastards.
It's pretty simple and the software to do it is free:Quote:

The only thing I've had to do after ripping a DVD is to rename the file from .mp4 to .m4v and it works perfect.
The best way I know of to get the DVD to MP4 format is to rip the DVD first with Mactheripper or DVD back up and then compress with Handbrake. This is with a mac. The reason to rip the DVD first is so that your DVD drive is not spinning for the 4-16 hours it takes to compress the DVD to MP4, depending on hardware. Not sure about on a Wintel but I am sure equivalent software is available.

You can get the Apple iPod universal doc for the video iPods that I believe will work with the firewire on your eMac.
Here is an article on how to get video onto an iPod.

This is pretty cool. I used the video out cable for my iPod photo on the iPod video and played the video from the iPod onto our bigscreen TV and it looks pretty damn good. it's certainly not ful DVD quality, because it's compressed 320X240 video, but it's definitely watchable. The ipod becomes a mobile video library that can plug into any set.
BTW... my 60Gb iPod photo, which is now brand new because the Genius Bar replaced it last night due to some trouble I was having with the old one will be going up for sale any day now. :)
i feel honored that someone ripped off the movie and put it on their Ipod.
Anyone know of an easy way to get a Divx file to play on it?
I imagine it would take forever to render.
I kinda doubt jibij ripped anything off - copying something you own onto another device is certainly fair use- but thanks for the attitude, Mr. Tate, we don't get enough of that around here.Quote:

For those interested... I just ripped a full-length feature DVD and it took 3 hrs. to do a 2-pass encoding. It would've taken an hour and a half for a single pass, but the quality's better with no file size increase to do 2 passes.
edit: File size for the full-length movie was 467Mb.
FIRE HOTTATE!
shit you geeks are sensitive
edit: i'm really stoked that someone put it on their Ipod. didn't mean to sound like i was calling my lawyer
Very nice... ski porn seems like a good choice to watch on one of those things. :)
I tried using HandBrake to rip, but couldn't get it to rip beyond the opening VAS bs. How do I get it to rip past the set-up menu into the real footy.
edit- duh, figured it out
This should be the motto of this board.Quote:

Use the title dropdown to select the section with the longest time. The DVD is broken into video segments. The opening screen is one of those segments. Generally, the longest segment will be the actual movie.
Also... be sure to select "Picture Settings" and resize the width to 320. Be sure your bit rate is at 400. i also select 2-pass encoding to get the better quality. it takes twice as long but it's worth it if you have a fast computer.
I've already got these on my iPod:
Breathe and Stop
Echo
Safety Meeting
Sinners
Tangerine Dream
plus a couple full-length movies
The quality is pretty amazing and I've got about 30Gb of storage left even with a few thousand songs and about 5000 full-res photos.
30Gigs left?
What'd you start with? (AKA, how much space did all that take up?)
sorry to sound like a retard...
are the new ipods new? is there something different about them that enables video, would you just need a software upgrade for any color/ipod photo?
Corn... Started with 60Gb.
lax... they're new iPods. 2.5" screen and video (mpeg4) support.
Inside they now have a video decoding chip so no software upgrade will ever make old ipods play video....Quote:
