So what determines whether a binding remains on the list- is it after a set amount of years they've been on the market?
This list is simply an assurance from the binding manufacturer that they will cover a ski shop legally if someone gets injured and sues the shop for installing or adjusting their bindings -- if the binding is on the list.
So, it's completely up to the manufacturer what's on the list and for how long.
Manufacturers started doing this because in the 1980s, people and their lawyers started suing everyone when they took a fall on the ski hill. It got so bad that ski shops refused to install, test, or even adjust bindings unless they were purchased brand new at that shop.
