Ebikes on forest service land?

Wife and I are heading south to ride this fall, and a lot of FS will not allow ebikes on the singletrack trails.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Shes on a trek Exe (light) and if we remove the battery is that OK?&nbsp; &nbsp;Yes it COULD be an ebike, but with battery removed its not able to do this?<br />

Thinking specifically for a shuttle at richfield UT, but also heading to hurricane area for a few weeks.<br />

Pretty much everyone ignores the no ebike rule. I really only hear of it getting enforced at a few county/local parks like in Orange County.

Shuttle services probably wont take you with an e-bike. Not sure how theyd play it with battery removed. Call ahead. Or you can self shuttle. Or ride up, isnt that what the moped is for???

Seriously, especially for Richfield since there's a road to climb.

Mopeds have become so prevalent in UT that they probably outnumber actual bikes by at least 2:1.

On single track or just MUTs?
Multi Use Trails and around town, by far more e-bikes, but I don't see much poaching of single track.

Lifties won't load them here and I don't think a shuttle would either.

Some people still care and will say something.

I'm a myob trail user. If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it.

Personaly i do not look white enough to go down there and i donot have an acoustic mtn bike

in any case research where you wana go pretty carefully and do not be laying down rooster tails in the loam

we have crown lands and FS roads up here but isnt the forest privatley owned down there ?

does one need a kevlar vest altho half a billion guns but nobody can shoot straight or we would not still be dealing with Trump ?

Our new legal trails on BLM land are allowing ebikes. I think the trend is headed that way. They cannot deny the will of the people. With that said, the whole Amflow power thing is going to cause waves I think. Too much power is not good for the industry. Especially if you have guys going Up the Downs...or like last weekend the reverse happened here. 3 guys on eebs came down hootin and hollering the Up. I told the last two as a heads up. They thought they were on "sweetness" which is a super popular classic down in SC. They weren't even close. [emoji23]

Demo state forest in SC does not allow ebikes, but I get passed by them every time I go.

Yeah I&#39;m not too sure about the amflow / bosch upgrade thing still they are just class1 Eabs but the timing & optics might be bad especialy right now when you can not click a news feed without reading about saurons which are electric motorcycles or illegally modifyed e-bikes , or about the class 2 or the class 3 all written by a scribe who hasnt a clue what they are writing about

Eabs are gona be everywhere as people age the problem is more likely the people rididng them than the Eeb itself

Singletrack. Not even poaching necessarily, some of the city trail systems that have been developed allow Class 1 (although tons of poaching also happens). Not making a value judgement on mopeds, but they have become so prevalent here that if you do any hard-ish climb on a pedal bike there's better than even odds you'll be the only one without a motor.

Fuck 'em. Ride your ebike.

Richfield, UT should be fine. You can also just ride your ebike up the dirt road and bomb down the DH trails.

Here also. I'm in the minority on an Amish bike. Most of our trails are illegal for any bike, so it doesn't really matter I guess. I'll be "that" guy soon enough on an eeb also. Although my plan is only to ride it with a few guys that have them and trail building which I'm most stoked for. It will be good as a recovery ride also. I'm in decent shape for an old phuck and I have several punchy rooty Ups yet to be cleaned, so Amish will be the primary ride.

seriously one can not throw rooster tails with an Eab and really there would be no difference weight wise between an acoustic rider with a few too many sixpacs and an Eaber weight wise so either ban all bikes or let them all be but really it sounds like there are just too many people so maybe trump had a good idea when he tried to takeover other countries ?

we have some hiker types who are apin in the ass they are some really old women becuz they are so old the men are dead, a senior planner emeritus told me they need to wait for all those old people to die and then there can be more trails linking MTB/ hiking/ XC skiing , the thing is they are so old they can&#39;t do any thing with their trails so we wait for them to die

Thread reminds me of my current similar issue. The "wife" got a nice e-bike (super sick Norco Fluid) that basically looks like a normal bike. Amazing how far these eebs have come. Anyway the positive is she is riding way more etc. The negative is finding somewhere we can both ride legally. The reality is that you just have to poach with those class 1s. I know plenty of riders on acoustics who do way more trail damage than she does gingerly pedaling her ebike.

It's an archaic law that defines class 1s as "motorcycles". At least here in SWMT they are still the outlier. You don't see many eebs at all really. Even old people still ride acoustic here. I will see 75 year olds on technical singletrack regularly.

I guess in much of the rest of the country unless you are under the age of 30 you are a weirdo if you ARE on an acoustic MTB anymore?

Same. And same for most of the places I go in Canada regularly (fernie, nelson, etc.). Also didn't see many ebikes on trail in Europe. *Tons* of ebikes over there, but 95% of them were sticking to bike paths, gravel roads, or maybe some mellow green trails. Barely saw any on "real" trails.

I thot it was all no Eeb down thar but in a country with 350 million rugged individulalists it only makes sense people are gona quit paying attenion to a dumb law, an Eeb is 20 lbs heavier than an acoustic so where is the trail Damage my buddies the 3 Eeb riding trail builders tell me there isnt really , but maybe what we really need to do is ban riders who weigh > 200 lbs ?

One of the builders tows a bob trailer with a pro saw a leaf blower a shovel a pulaski a rake, today I am gona ride up with my 261 and cut out a large snag there are a few Eeb closures in the high alpine but pretty much nobody cares in BC, I see more and more Eeb, the localtrail signs will say class 1 allowed

The issue isn't the weight. It's that you can do twice as many laps on an ebike. More traffic (regardless of what kind of bike) means more damage to the trail, requiring more maintenance. Particularly on high use trails, more people on ebikes means the trail is gonna get blown out a lot faster.

The most blown out trails I ever rode were the birthplace of freeride the north shore of Vancover and that was well before the first Eeb SO you gottta deal with blown out trails no matter what the local trail guys don&#39;t really think its an issue

We have a large trail network that is open to Ebikes and Dirtbikes. Very few people use it. It is FS land. Unfortunately, it closes to motorized use on 10/9 this year.
