Orogenesis 2025
Orogenesis Update 2025
Ive done a couple scouting trips so far this year to try and button up parts of the route. One to Sequoia NF to check conditions on a few trails. And the other to scout some stuff on the way to/from Bones to Blue https://forums.tetongravity.com/show...s-to-Blue-2025.
But this years thread will be more about updates on the route than scouting since we are getting to the end of that.
Orogenesis released its first section of the route to the public in April, the Loowit Tier up in Washington State https://orogenesiscollective.org/loowit I think the plan is to release three more sections this fall.
Just this week, Kurt Refsnider began the first thru-ride of the route starting at the Cdn/US border heading south to Baja. Follow along on Trackleaders: https://trackleaders.com/orogenesis25
Kurt will have check-ins on the Spin Cycle podcast every couple weeks. The first one is already up. Also, he just posted an article on the escapecollective.com in case anyone has a subscription. It is unfortunately behind an impenetrable paywall.
He is already 250 miles in. Rode Angels Staircase area yesterday. And today had bypass the Entiat Mtns due to a fire closure. Thats a bummer because the trails and views are pretty awesome.
I did a road trip from BC down the eastern side of the Cascades in 2022 trying to hit as many bucket list rides as possible, a bunch of which are on the route. A couple pics for some stoke.

And from Pyramid Peak just off the main (non fire detour) route:

It looked like they had a really slow day yesterday climbing out of Wenatchee and riding Tronsen Ridge.

Today they are heading to Teanaway Commmunity Forest. Currently climbing up County Line Trail which looks pretty rad from Trailforks:

It was hot as balls yesterday so not a surprise they would be slow going up that trail. Few more days of heat before it tapers off

Wow this is rad!
This eastern WA stuff is my extended backyard, cool to see on here.
Ive only tickled along the edges of the Angels Staircase area. It is awesome and technical backcountry adventure riding.
Tronsen was great pseudo alpine riding, cant wait to do it again and all the way down Red Hill and Sand Creek.
I really can't imagine riding this stuff unsupported over weeks and weeks, especially in this eastside heat.
I would die.
