best place to ride b/t Portland and Bend for 1-2 hours

any suggestions appreciated, guys. the wife said i can bring the bike to P-town this weekend and that maybe we'd stop on the way back to Bend for me to get a spin :D .

considerations would be that the wife and kids maybe have a place to play/eat/whatever while i'm off riding.

also, it'd be great if the place was on the way and minimized out-of-the-way driving

are you going by way of Mt Hood? If so there are options aplenty there. I would suggest Surveryor's ridge, if you can get dropped out at the far end off the fire road and hammer back to the parking lot closer to the highway. That is the best i can do here from work. Might be able to dig up more specifics at home with a guide book.
