My feet never get so cold that I wanted boot heaters or even a Boot Glove. On occasion, I have used Duck Tape over the toe slot of the boot. My wife and daughter get cold feet. Thus the thread.
Are these Boot Caps that have been all over social media lately any good?
I never used to have cold feet issues, but my entire body seems to be falling apart now that I'm 50... I bought some Bootcaps last year, I can't say I've really noticed a significant difference. I did not do any A/B testing like they suggested with only one Bootcap on so hard to say, but sadly I've actually been thinking about getting boot heaters.
From the reviews that I read it seems like they fall off pretty easily.
The first gen fell apart easily. I sent them a pic and they sent me new ones. I'm a believer.

I have used chemical toe warmers with a boot glove and that works pretty good

I ended up getting the boot caps a couple weeks ago. I think they help, especially with my Lange WC, but it’s not as dramatic as boot gloves. I have boot heaters also, but in the WC’s they struggle to keep up in sub-zero. With the boot cap, they are warmer on the lowest setting in the real cold. I got them to supplement my boot heaters for when I stand around at comps for 3-4 hours when I don’t make the switch to touring boots. I put them on my kids boots and he doesn’t have boot heaters: he said they helped for the first couple hours on a sub zero day, but eventually his toes got cold.
Only advantage that I can see of then in the ads, are for those that want to always unbuckle their boot lower buckles getting on and off the lifts. I do boot gloves but never unbuckle even without them on. Not sure how the pair I've seen on FB ads can help keep your toes warm as they look like they are pretty small.
well Boot glove seems to cover the toe and with a heater pack I was good to -20 C which was pretty good IMO
I saw a guy in a lift line commenting his was falling off. My bro-science evaluation of toe caps is, even if they work, they aren't worth looking like someone with toe caps on your boots.

I put some on my Zero Gs. I have been using them in the Tetons during the crazy cold snap we had. I didn't notice much difference. Still have to run heated socks. I A/B'd these last year. Spent about 8-10 days with a bootcap on one boot, and no bootcap on the other.
I noticed no difference in warmth. Not saying they don't do anything, but I couldn't feel it. YMMV
Experiment ended when the bootcap started to pull off the boot (following a couple of short inbounds bootpacks).
Wish the atomic boot gloves were more widely available. Those w a heat pack underneath would prob be money. The reg boot gloves are too much of a pain in the ass to buckle and unbuckle

I bought a pair for myself last year and felt like they did help. Would've recommended them but after 20 days the adhesive failed on the foam side and left a gooey mess on my boot. Just going to use a boot glove from now on.

A co-worker on the mountain hooked me up with a pair of the toe caps last season and I didn't feel any real improvement. On the bitter cold days, I wish I had my old BootGloves, because the caps were a lot colder. I coach full-time and 90+% of the days I don't need anything. My ragged beat up 20 year old BootGloves have always worked and when extremely cold, I place the sticky toe warmer on the top of the outside shell, under the neoprene. </p>
Rocked some last year for about a month. 4 days in one fell off but the other stayed put. The boot with the cap on didn't feel any warmer in fact sometimes that foot felt colder for some reason. I'll chalk that up to circulation or something. Grabbed some boot gloves this year and cut slits for the buckles and have used them 2 or 3 times. Really helped for a couple hours at 0 to -5.
I know looks don't matter, but boot caps are a tough pull. I have cold toes as well, and have used heated insoles. They are awesome, but the durability of the cords/batteries was underwhelming. I will try heated socks next, for the simplicity. I'd try the Atomic BootGlove with buckle holes, but I'd like to try them on and see how the buckles line up for usability.
Interesting to see the reviews… it’s like six:two - don’t work.
Logically a covering so little of your foot… it doesn’t make any sense that they would work…

I think Im going to cut slots in my boot glove to make them like the Atomic ones. Any one try this yet?
I haven’t cut boot gloves but I cut holes in my overboots, which are also made of neoprene, so i could step into AT tech bindings. Neoprene seems to hold up well to getting cut and doesn’t continue to rip.
