I've got the first gen Rustler 9 and its perfectly balanced mounted on the line.
Reasons to go forward a bit include light weight, less confident/less strong/slower skier, ski relatively long for skier's weight. Reasons to go back a bit? None really, if you want better float in fresh snow get the Rustler 10 or 11.
I guess my experience with moving mount points is more for freestyle type skis, like a Candide, where different mount points are given, or like a Jeffrey where Scott said it works to go back as far as -6, and I did. Both cases were magic for me.
Case closed. Going with the Blizzard engineers on this one. Cheers.
