I fear my youngest daughter (7) has inherited her dad's wide, high volume foot. In the boots she's had thus far (Tecnica J2 Pearl, Nordica Speedmachine J2 & J3) she's complained of binding pain on top of her instep. I've been removing the insole and cutting super thin replacements to create volume. She's about a 19.5-20.5 shell.
Are there any kids' boots on the market that are known for being higher volume in the instep/forefoot?
The dalbellos menace are a 3 piece and good for this. Come in different numbers of buckles. Not the super high performance option.

Take the liner out of your Speed Machine J2's and take a look - on my grandson's 17.5 boots, there is a 3.3mm rubber pad screwed to the bottom, which you can take out easily and create more instep height. My grandkids also inherited my flat wide foot and I actually punch all of their boots for fifth met width (careful, the polyolefin goes from solid to full melt in a hurry).
Good idea. I did remove the roughly 6mm thick insole and had her try them on again, still the grimace and complaint. I'll see what I can do about the rubber pad atop the deck insert. These are the J3s she's inheriting from her older sister but I imagine they're the same.Quote:
