Return to skiing after TKR, what to expect?

Man, I hate to start a new thread here but not finding my answer and not going to hijack the TKR thread currently.

So, 60 y/o male with bilateral TKR (3/24/24 & 6/25/24). I feel like I've done pretty well with rehab, walk 5-7 mi/day, ex bike about 30 min, lot's of Bosu; I'm physically in better shape than the last couple of seasons really. Except my knees do feel a little loosey goosey at times, like they really aren't tuned into what the rest of me is trying to do. Surgeon says okay to ski after 6 months (which I'll short by a week or two), which seems reasonable.

I've been blue groomer guy the last couple of seasons due to my knees, so I'm not expecting to huck Bad News but realistically; what can I expect?

I had my right TKR on 10/12/23 and the left scheduled for 8 weeks later, 12/4/23.
Once I stopped favoring the right and let the left rest, it stopped hurting nearly as much. So I decided to postpone the left and actually went skiing on 12/4 instead. I took it easy at first, but I kept pushing it. Some days I'd have to ease off.
But I ended with 130 days and toward the end of the season, I was killing it and so will you!

Have about 10 days in so far this season, It's been just shy of great. Lost a fair amount of muscle mass over the last few years that makes skiing anything difficult; well, difficult. I've been limping around and being blue groomer guy for a few seasons now, so at least I'm now (mostly) pain free. This season will be a rebuilding season, but I should be back in good form by next season for sure.

Unintended consequences, lack of knee cartliage made me severely bowlegged before surgery. Surgery fixed being bowlegged but my skiing had adapted to being bowlegged. Having a time getting on a flat ski now, I always want to be on my outside edges. Trying to correct the technique side rather than fixing it with boot tricks for now.

Cannot add anything to this thread other than my heart sings hearing about your guys that have had TKR getting back at it. Hard. Nicely done. Not looking forward to it, but not afraid of it now either.

After 3-4 hours of skiing expert terrain, both knees hurt a little and I call it a day. Listen to your body.

Lots of good, old skiers here, that have hadTKR. A common theme "why did I wait so long."

I'll probably get the left replaced sometime this summer.

Happy 50th birthday, that’s quite a milestone!

Only my second day out on skis with a knee that’s been under the knife thrice said I was done after 3 hours. I’ll second listening to the body. But man skiing is so fun.
