Snowbird September 24, 2005 - photo TR

Endless gave me a call Friday night and told me that he needed a photog for an upcoming article in the Deseret News. We met up at Pipeline Bowl and made a few turns and took a few pictures. The conditions weren't great, but it was fun.

Endless: did your guy at Deseret say when the article would be published?

The Deseret News photog was going to shoot photos of Endless last Monday on Pipeline, but apparently they were doing Tram maintanence that day so it was a no-go. I'm no photog, but I tried my best given the conditions and lighting (both not ideal).

Thanks again, Boarderline, for taking those for the paper. I fired 'em off to them as soon as I unzipped the folder. He didn't say what day it was for. I'll try to find out tomorrow.
That is one awesome camera. Is it a 10x optical zoom? Because I 'd say I was about 2 football fields away when you zoomed in on me at the top of the snow.

The camera has a 3x optical zoom that shoots pictures at 7.2 MP which is nice because the extra resolution lets you zoom in further using Photoshop.

Did it soften up at all that day? Doesn't look like it.

It wasn't horribly firm, but it was firm. That same snow consistency and temp on a groomed run would have been that perfect kind of feel where your edges are holding well and the turns are just soft enough. Unfortunately, this was irregularly cupped and littered with just about as many sharp rocks as I've seen.
It was serious work on the top half trying to dodge the rocks while at the same time not catching a tip on the downhill side of craters. Pretty weird skiing, but for Sep in Utah I'll take it any day. :D

Congrats though, looks like an adventure!
