Anyone dealt with Achilles tendinitis?
I ran a lot of miles last year, and started to feel really stiff/sore ankles, particularly in the mornings. In retrospect I think it was actually Achilles, not the ankles themselves. Skiing seemed ok, but I’d feel it after touring. I kept up around 20-30 miles/week running over winter/spring, and then I started to feel more distinct discomfort in the Achilles while running. A combo of that plus getting sick and some time-consuming home reno turned a short rest into about 3 months off running.
I tried to restart running over the past few weeks before ski season and was surprised to immediately feel stronger pain in the Achilles even after the rest - pretty constant on short, light runs.
I started working with a PT last week, but curious if anyone here has dealt with similar? It’s been pretty demoralizing going from nearly 200 miles last Oct to a whopping 16 miles this month. It feels like a long road to go, and I really don’t want to f up ski season either.
