Strafe makes some good shit oriented more toward touring than resort if that's your thing.
Don’t know about that, just took a look at their jackets and there’s not one I would take as a primary touring jacket if it was given to me. Weird how so many companies miss the boat completely with touring jackets.
Mikey, that’s a great shop. Spent money in person and ordered skins from them in the past. Owner seems to go places I go too as his trip reports often turn up in searches for where I go
it is a great shop - I was working at Alpenglow in Tahoe City when they opened 30 years ago - I’ve been a customer ever since, even when I was in Juneau, Vail, and Sonora - when I was looking to move back to Truckee / Tahoe I pretty much knew that The BackCountry was where I wanted to be - I interviewed at Tahoe Mountain Sports and talked to Brendan at Alpenglow, but The BackCountry always felt the best - it’s a good fit for me, and I really prefer living in Truckee over Tahoe - Mike is a good guy to work for and yeah he gets out and gets after it
I remember when the Backcountry moved from the back of the ancient hotel building to the spot next to the boatworks. Used to go in all the time when it was there. His forum/blog used to have some great intel. I don’t stop in truckee much but will try to pop in if I’m up there this weekend
