IKON Pass Insurance - Have you made a claim?

The actual policy for IKON “Pass Protection” insurance (also known as SPOT insurance) reads very different than the description on the website. The policy describes travel insurance. It says things like:

This certificate describes the travel insurance benefits .....

If You cancel Your Trip prior to the Scheduled Departure Date, we will reimburse You, up to the Maximum Benefit Amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits, for unused, forfeited, prepaid non-refundable Payments or Deposits for the Travel Arrangements You purchased for Your Trip.........

It’s also 41 pages long.

Call me cynical, but it feel like a trick to me. My “trip” typically consists of driving up a canyon to go skiing. I am very curious about the experiences of anyone who made a claim to get the cost of their IKON pass reimbursed or partially reimbursed.

i know a few people that have used their pass insurance to get reimbursed due to injury. Basically, they sent in a note from their doctor saying they blew out their knee or whatever the injury was..... They pro-rate and refund. Seemed pretty easy

One of my buds did it a couple of years ago after a bad case of covid left him unable to maintain high enough pulse-ox at altitude. They prorated his pass cuz he used some days before the illness but generally were pretty accommodating all things considered.

They don't appear to pro-rate based on ticket window prices. It appears to be based only on time:
This from the IKON website:

Interruption for Season Passes:
If the covered event occurs after December 12, 2024, the reimbursement amount prorates
daily from December 12, 2024 through May 30, 2025. This is considered the Interruption period.

Here’s an example:

You purchase a Season Pass on March 14, 2024 and add Pass Protection. Then a covered event
occurs on January 25, 2025, and you ?le a claim. In this speci?c situation, the event occurred
25% through the interruption window, so you'd be eligible for a 75% reimbursement of the
Season Pass purchase price.

I don't see pro-rating discussed in the SPOT sample contract.

Is that no note from Ski Patrol?
I kinda figured you would need to take the toboggan down to verify where you injured?

I've fucked myself up a few times where I needed surgery, but haven't ridden the sled.
