I don't eat burgers (from cows) so if fast food is the call, Rubios. I had a chicken burrito there a week ago that was really good and yes, I love the fish tacos.
Fatburger or Tommy's for a good L.A. burger.
LATaco.com has good recs for Mexican food in L.A. Mariscos Jalisco on La Cienaga on the west side is pretty solid and not too far from LAX, but honestly there's a million good choices.
It’s Southern California, you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a good taco truck

The further away from LAX you get, the worse the burritos, the better the burgers…

^^ Rambler is good.
Yes, that's it! Mountain Rambler.
There was another burger joint, a few miles west of 395. Order and eat outside. Forgot the name.
If you need a Burrito in Mammoth hit

Awesome recommendations so far. Cheers for that. We still have a day or two until a potential feast. Any other thoughts? Keep 'em coming.
What would make a man fast for a morning knowing he's about to hit a 2hr meal before boarding a flight back across the ocean?

Mercado in Bishop has great food. Breakfast burritos are tasty along with other food. I think it is closed right now for remodeling but should reopen.
The three taco trucks in Lone Pine are great. Castros on the west side of 395 for carne asada. The truck on the east side of the road has really good carnitas. The truck by the airport for chicken. The three trucks have figured out a schedule that at least one is open every day of the week. You can’t go wrong with any of them.

Seconding this - tied for best burritos in Mammoth with El Charro.
Otherwise, any taco truck / cart in LA is legit. This one is close to the airport: https://maps.app.goo.gl/zUi72wapKcCAcinu5
