Plumbing question that shoulda been easy…

That clear plastic adapter has split. 3/8” NPT female, 1/2” NPT male end. Pretty standard stuff but impossible to find today (plastic or metal) at 6 different hardware or stores. So I bought something similar in PVC with a smooth female end I tapped with a 3/8 x 18 pipe NPT tap…but the cut threads aren’t quite deep enough (ie the ID of the fitting was a bit too large) to create a strong threaded watertight connection.

As a backup plan I ordered one in stainless: https://www.amazon.com/Megairon-Redu.../dp/B071NH1P9S but it won’t arrive until after our #vanlife trip. This part connects to a port that supplies our outdoor shower.

Ideas? Why is a simple NPT reducer so hard to find?

Wrap some pipe tape to take up the slack?

Go down to the UPS store and print one.

Thanks all. Yeah my sleuthing did find a 1/2” MIP but the plastic fittings going into this are all tapered, which is why I was looking for NPT. MIP ain’t tapered. At any rate the part I made with an NPT tap is actually working ok now once I found a thick enough rubber o ring to put inside it.

The Home Depot site couldn’t find the ntp/ntp part I linked to on Amazon when I checked this morning in any material, but it’s not a great site for searching

supplyhouse.com has an amazing amount of stuff and they're cheap and ship crazy fast.

Lowe's (Reno store on Kietzke) has a good assortment of different pipe adapters, threaded, pex, different plastic and brass construction.

I was just searching through there to get a fitting for a Reliance 7-gallon jug to attach to a hose, for easier refilling of the trailer water tank. There's a lot in stock.
