Looking to pick up 2 sets of 26" wheels for my kids.
The plan is to run CX tires on 26" wheels on my Kids' Woom Off 5 (24") bikes for this fall. They ought to have clearance based on my measurements.
They need to have 15/100 front and 12 x 135 / 9 speed rear hub compatibility and don't break the bank.
This seems like a hard combination to find?
Sounds like time to try your hand at lacing your own wheels! Can reuse your existing hubs if you no longer need the wheelset.
I'm no pro-wheelbuilder, but I did this years ago for my townie bike where I wanted to use a Bendix kickback hub. I did the best I could by hand without a stand (think I just used the frame/fork and some zipties) and then took them to a shop and paid for a tension and true to make sure everything was good. They've been rock solid ever since.
Can start with cheap new rims and midweight spokes, or try to find a nice set of narrow 26" wheels that are sitting in someone's parts bin and pull the rims (and possibly spokes).
My one warning is to check toe overlap!! Usually not an issue, but bought/installed 26” wheel on my daughters 24” bike and she had major overlap in the driveway spin. So much that I immediately took them off. She never had issue w 24.Quote:
