Mountain Flow Chain Lube

Has anyone used this? Searched but couldn't find anything. I am trying the Dry version, so far not very impressed. I cleaned the chain by soaking it in the Mtn Flow degreaser over night, then rinsed it well under hot water, let the chain dry over night. Applied a drop of lube to each link, let it dry for an hour or so, did not wipe off. When dripping on the links, it looked like the lube was running off the chain more than penetrating the rollers. After 3 rides, the chain is pretty noisy again. I'm in Salida, CO, so conditions are pretty dry, although not too dusty right now since it's been raining. The chain is staying nice and clean though.

Man, they don’t give much information on it on their website, so who knows what’s in it.

But, in Zero Friction testing, I think every ‘dry’ lube’s performance could be described as ‘sucks donkey balls’, so that may be what you’re experiencing.

If you want a ‘dry’ lube, it should be wax. No idea how the Mountainflow wax lube performs, but all wax lubes don’t perform anywhere near equal.

I wasn't expecting this dry lube to be as good as other lubes, but was hoping for better results. The way it kinda beaded up and ran off the chain makes me think of cleaning the chain better with mineral spirits instead of their degreaser, but that sorta defeats the whole eco thing. I also have some of their "all conditions" lube, will give that a try.

At the behest of a customer I tried their ski wax and it too, "sucked donkey balls."
Soft, sticky, hard to brush off and lasted about one run.

I've been using the full array of their products.. Usually pick up the new stuff as it comes out (just got the water bottles). Full disclosure, the founder is a buddy. The dry lube works as well as any of the other dry lubes I've used and after a few cycles of lube and wipe I don't notice any real difference.

A few of the local shops have started using their ski wax and I haven't heard similar complaints.

Nice thing about mineral spirits is that you can reuse it and it lasts forever in a sealed container. I’ve been using the same jars of mineral spirits and alcohol to clean chains and such for years.

Same here. I wonder if it is possible to improve the formula. I still use it because I’m trying to be eco, but it’s a real pita to work with.
