THE Electric Skateboard Thread

I haven't seen a thread on this yet.

I rode a WowGo board yesterday down at the beach. Ripping through beach traffic at 24 mph was a ton of fun. I think I am gonna need a new helmet. So what does everyone have?
I am not interested in the One Wheel. It just doesn't appeal to me. Too expensive, and too many stories about them bricking mid ride and throwing people.
I would prefer a board that will roll on its own, if the battery dies. I think that puts me in the hub motor, possibly direct drive style board. The belt drive ones seem to get further range with higher speed, but I don't think they roll on their own if the battery is dead.

I liked that you could hit the gas, and release it, and just cruise. No need to stay on the throttle. I think you could really milk the battery life if you rode it that way. I am really not sure if they all work this way though.

So what ya got? Am I missing something? Is there some even cooler tech out there?

That deck and components look cheap, like department store quality.

I'd be tempted to build my own e-skate using a conversion kit.

But Loaded makes a good product so I would think they partnered with a solid company. The option to use any truck is what caught my attention.

Don't have one but they do look fun. Still have a mini half next to the house that could be operational with a sheet and a half of plywood. Ut's flat at the beach, battery should last a lot longer cruising up and down there.

I've got a Roughhouse Scooter for my sunny day cruising. I can take it anyplace a bicycle is allowed.

Yeah, manning up and pushing is why I have Plantar Fasciitis, which sux.
Conversion kits look cool until you look at the range and speed.
I would love to turn my old sector 9 into an e-board

What I'm wondering about with these (and I know Nada here), is do they also have a brake? Could be super fun to do big hills and not have to learn/do the longboard power slide to not die.

Imo regenerative coasting is where it's at cuz, while you don't roll as far you have more consistent speed control

I'm still riding my Boosted V2 and Evolve GTX from like 2016. They only go about 5 miles on a charge anymore. Checked out an eskate group ride last summer, and someone called my board a "dinosaur" lol.

Yes, if you tap the controller backwards it slows down. If you held it a bit, it would control your descent. At full stop it will go in reverse.

Looking at Bustin Boards as a possible contender.

I visited my kid at college and borrowed her roommates e-skate. It was a Possway brand. I’d never ridden one before but grew up street skating. Had a hoot zipping around campus for the afternoon. Looks like Possway T3 is an updated one from the one I rode with bigger wheels and a better more powerful and longer lasting battery for $500.

I looked into eboards and ebikes and ended up the best quality, speed, and range were escooters.

I think 1wheels are the best and the way to go. My buddy has two - 1 for road and 1 for dirt. I think the breaking is more natural to skating and they roll over most shit no problem. Much better than hold a controller types even though it looks less like a skateboard

I joined all the e skate forums, read the reviews, compared it all. Verdict- Backfire covers their shit the best.
I have read all sorts of horror stories about some of the other companies.
Backfire consistently is rated as taking care of their shit.
I also bought the extended warranty for 3 years.

Got the board, backpack, warranty, and the 105 cloud wheels for less than some complete boards with wayyyyy worse stats.
Got a helmet at Skate Park of Tampa the other day. Love going over there. Tons of skate history in that ratty ass building.

Stoked to not have to push anymore. My old ass feet need a break.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Edit- 27 mph. Fuck Yeah!!! I need pads too.
