I've never been to Cabo, the wife is taking me down for a "milestone" birthday. Any thoughts on a day of fishing? Should I pack a 8-10 wt?

I've never been to Cabo, the wife is taking me down for a "milestone" birthday. Any thoughts on a day of fishing? Should I pack a 8-10 wt?
Where are you staying Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo? It makes a difference as San Jose is a much quieter port with cheaper charters than Cabo. Do you speak any Spanish? I enjoy chartering a panga with a 'capitan' for a half day or so of fishing and save a few dollars with a capitan that doesn't speak English. Be prepared for getting yessed on your requests from the charter agency and the capitan knowing nothing about it when you arrive before dawn. That said I have caught sailfish, tuna and spanish mackeral on light tackles for a few Benjamins. Not many charters specialize in fly fishing and those that do are $$$.
