I went with the Mrs. today to Deer Valley to check oot the lift-served version of this whole newfangled mtb thingamabob y'all have been spraying about. Holy burritos, flying downhill on a squishy full suspension bike is the best thing since, oh I dunno, skiing/snowboarding. :D
It's all over. I must buy a bike for next summer now.
Heh,yentna and I were up there riding our squishy bikes and we had a blast. First time I've ridden dh at Deer Valley on the bullit, so much fun.

So, total bike JONG question here. Don't know what kind of bike to get. Would like something that I could take cross country but would also ownerize on the lift served downhill. Also, not having to take out a second mortgage on my house to afford such a bike would also rock. What should I get?

Get something with air suspension so it's light enough and has enough small bump compliancy to XC ride, but with 5"+ of suspension (6" is ideal).
Though I cannot deny the bonerific status of this bike, have you seen the wheelbase? Holy long bike Batman. Seems a bit stretched for a bike that's geared towards freeride. I still want one though.Quote:

Kona Coiler's also a good choice. Go-Ride carries Yeti, Iron Horse and Foes, all of which sell heavy-duty trailbikes.
The new DHX Air rear shock is really going to help but I still stay away from air sprung. If you go to Go-Ride, ask for Chris and tell him we sent you in to look at the AS-X, 575 freeride build (SWEEEEETTTT), IR 7.2, Turner 6-pack, etc..he will take care of you.
And welcome to the loss of most of your money/savings. :D
