I have creaking coming from the front end of my bike. It's noticable and I'd like it to stop.
Is it my shock? My stem/topcap? Stem bolts? Do I need to loosen everything and grease? Do I need to check proper bolt torque and put anti-sieze on them?

That's step #2. Step #1 would be to try and figure out where it's coming from by tugging and twisting different parts of the bike. Is it when you pedal, corner, twist the bars, etc?Quote:

What the others said but one more thing:
CHeck to see if there is any play in your headset: lock the front brake, put your free hand at the lower fork race, rock the bike back and forth. If there is any play ytou should feel it pretty quick.
Hope it is not an ovalized head tube. This would happen if you were dropping and crashing on a bike that is not really built for big drops and heavy people. It doesn't happen too much these dys, more with older bike.
