I'm getting an AT setup this year and I'm a skin JONG. What would you recommend for 175 cm Pocket Rockets? I would say price and durability are most important to me. Any good deals out there?

Also, what width should I get? To match the waist, or tip and then cut it to fit the rest of the ski?
Ive always had good luck w/ purple black diamond asecensions. What ever the widest part of your ski. My guess would be 110 mm but it maybe 120. As for a deal occasionally Sierra Trading Post has seconds although I would be leary if they were seconds due to glue issues. Malfunctioning skins will ruin a good tour in a hurry. What ever you get try and take good care of em cause regluing sucks large bovine testicles.
My G3s seem to have comparable grip and glide to the purple Ascensions (which are the skin benchmark). Looks like they've fixed the glue issues, because mine have held up. Plus they come with the GlideLite-style tail clip which I like a lot better than Clipfix.
I have had nothing but good luck with the classic ascension skin. Their glue and plush seem to hold up the best. For sizing, I usually go about ten to fiften mm above the waist width on my ski. This is the zone that you want to have good caverage. Going that much wider will also give you good coverage on the tip of you ski and not collect a bunch of junk on the glue while folded or in storage. Be sure to get a brick of their glopstopper skin wax for days when the snow will stick to your skins. It is worth every penny, and you do not have to have ice bergs build up on you skins.
thanks guys. I couldn't find any good deals on the G3's, but saw some new BD Clipfix's on sale for $90. I read a few bad reviews about the clipfix system not fitting some skis. Anyone know if they'd work for Pocket Rockets?
You can take the clipfix off and rig your own set up. I am a fan of a fixed latch in the back and the green bd rubber stretch set up in the front. I think there were some articles on skin set ups on LD's wildsnow web site. I know bd still carries the tip stretch but have'nt been able to find the rear fixed clip. as of late. Just a peice of metal that rivited in the rear of skin. Good price for those skins though.

I bought Glidelite 2nds. last season on a heads up from iskibc. They were a great deal and there was just a very small blemish. I had great luck with them last season. I think that iskibc or someone else recently posted a link for a similar deal. I believe last year i got them from Mountain Gear.

In the front portion...just fold more of the skin over..thru the tip-grabbing loop and sew it up to the skin....
