The Knitters?
I was a big X fan back in the day and The Kniitters are basically X (John Doe, Exene and D.J. Bonebrake) in an alt-country mood.
Saw them on Letterman (Exene..put...the...twinkie...DOWN) but they played "Burnin' house of Love" and honestly it didn't sound all that different than the X version.
Anybody heard more of this album? Is it worth buying? And does anyone have a copy of the original 1985 Knitters album, which I can't find?
-
Don't know anything about them, but iTunes has "The Modern Sounds of the Knitters" in the music library. You can listen to a sample of each song.

Yeah, thanks, I did but for some reason I'm not pickin' up the flava from the samples. Or perhaps I am and it's simply not a good flava.

I've got the Knitters album, but it's on cassette (purchased)- I assume you're talking about the one with Rock Island Line, Black Betty etc on it, oh yeah it's called Poor Little Critter on the Road.
-
Yeah, that's the one, I had that years ago. It's out of print, if you figure a way to burn a copy I'd appreciate it and return the favor on something.

This compilation is pretty tight.. Covers by all bloodshot or former bloodshot label bands. Compilations are usually pretty lame but I liked this one.

I had heard of that compilation but not of Bloodshot Records, thanks for the link, I bookmarked the page.
