Wiegele heli-ski
I have an offer for a heli-ski package through Mike Wiegele's for December 10-15, 2005 (6 days/5 nights - one of those all-inclusive things). Price seems reasonable for 6 days unlimited vertical. Groups of 4, 1 guide per group.
Is December 10-15 just too early to bet on good snow in British Columbia? If I pony up the $$$ for heli-skiing, I don't want mud. Any info on Wiegele & mid-December BC conditions mucho appreciated.
Also, I wonder if trip cancellation insurance covers bad weather. I'll have to look into that.

Do it. Even if we have an extremely dry autumn there will be enough snow. Last year I was skiing not too far south of Wiggly world in late November and it was excellent.

No guarantees, but I've been cat skiing around that time the last two years in the Monashees and there's been plenty of snow. However, last year the Pineapple Express moved in half way through our trip and we experienced some very heavy snow, followed by breakable crust.

I have once skied at Mike's at Christmass time.
It was GREAT! But, the days are short daylight wise, you ski mostly trees (personally, I like skiing trees), so don't expect to get up in the high alpine and it can be very cold. There was 2.5 meters of snowpack at the time.

PS for those metricly challenged 2.5 meters = 98.42 inches........
