Fitbit for Soccer Training

Hey, so my son is wanting to wear a fitbit during his soccer matches. He wants to know-

1) Total distance covered
2) A heat map of his positions throughout the game
3) Any other data that might be useful that we didn't think of

I know nothing about these little devices.
Please school me-

1. I don't think a base fitbit will do that. You need a gps device.
2. We've used a garmin gps to do that. You get a drawings of the locations they cover during the game, but it's just a line, so I don't think it makes it a heat map. However, you can get a sense of it.
3. You also get total distance covered, heart rate, speed at any given moment, etc.
4. Most leagues will not let you wear a watch for a game. Maybe if you put a wristband over it.
5. To really do what you want to do you need to drop some cash and buy something like this: https://www.playertek.com/us/playertek/

Mrs Cruiser uses a Garmin vivoactive 3 for exactly what you're describing and she has nothing but good things to say about it. She wears it under a sweat band on the field cuz her league (like most) has a no jewelry policy.

I have not. We also use Vivoactive 3. I would love to get one of these playertrackers and check it out.
